My IL’s LOVE being grandparents and would do anything for their grandkids. MY MIL goes to my SIL (they live 2 hours away) for a week in the summer when her daycare is closed so her and her husband don’t have to take a week off if they don’t want to take a vacation at the time daycare is closed. They pick DD up every Friday from daycare and take her back to our house (we both work later on Fridays) to be there when we get home from work. My parents took a while, well my mom at least, DD had my dad wrapped around her little fringer right away (she had my FIL wrapped around her whole body from day one). I have a younger brother that was 10 when DD was born so my parents are still active parents to an awesome UNCLE!!! DD and my little brother get along great. He loves playing with her now that she’s not breakable like when she was a ‘baby’. She calls him “My Matthew”, it’s so cute! My parents have only watched her once. I kind of feel guilty (but it also makes me mad that they don’t) asking them knowing they have a kid at home but at the same time they’ve also never offered (though we do live about 50 mins away). Though I have seen a change in my mom lately into becoming more of a grandma.
